PSP merchant onboarding needs more than account opening
Category: Merchant Onboarding
Merchant onboarding is not a single form. For a PSP, it is the first operating control in the platform: the merchant login account, legal business profile, agreement acceptance, KYB or KYC route, provider reference mapping, and product enablement must all be connected.
Oceafin treats the first account as inactive until the merchant accepts the current terms and submits the required profile. This keeps the experience clear: merchants can understand the platform capabilities early, while real money movement stays gated until activation is complete.
The important product detail is traceability. Every activation step should have an owner, timestamp, agreement version, submitted evidence, status, and reason for follow-up. That record gives operations, compliance, support, and finance the same source of truth.
For global payment teams, this onboarding model avoids a common failure: selling fast account access while leaving the PSP to reconstruct business context later. Activation should create a durable operating boundary from day one.
